11th & Bark was formed to make the Columbia Heights Dog Park an official city off-leash dog park. Thanks to advocacy of supporters like you, the District is in the process of purchasing the park, but the fight to save the park isn’t over yet.

The Columbia Heights Dog Park is located on Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) property and WMATA is selling the land. We worked with Ward 1 Councilmember Brianne Nadeau to ensure that that the District included funds in its FY2019 budget to purchase the property and save the dog park. Unfortunately, it appears WMATA rejected the District’s bid and is selling the park to a developer. We are now looking for new areas for the park.

The Columbia Heights Dog Park is in need of a lot of TLC. We wanted to make vast improvements, but could not without WMATA’s cooperation. 11th & Bark continues to organize clean-up days and offer the improvements we can.
